This photo was taken with my good friend Mike Mauro. Mike is my neighbor and friend, he is also a world renowned photographer. In the slow times of the year we scout many locations around Colorado. On this early December day in '08, Mike had the bright idea to drive the gray glider "an 86 4Runner" up to Loveland pass. I slept as usual in the passenger seat while NPR melded the monotone drone of the four cylinder motor over the mountain passes. With the lack of color and low light, Mike started to mess around with HDR. I of course followed suit, because I am aspiring to be a great photographer like he is. Mike has always told me to surround myself with talented people. He, like myself was self taught and thought it wise to shoot with the greats whenever possible. I relish the fact that I am revising his tactics by shooting with him. This photo is a tribute to Mike, and it makes me smile. I like to think, on a cold quiet day much like the one in this photo when the air was still, a much wiser man said to another "Mike, the thing that will make this photo better is..."
